Viktor Andersson: “We managed to avoid all trouble”

Monlau Motorsport driver Viktor Andersson achieved an important victory in the second joint FIA TCR World Tour and TCR Spain race at Valencia to extend his points lead in the Spanish championship.

“It was a good race again, like I said yesterday, fighting with the best,” Andersson told TouringCarTimes.

“It’s a great feeling and today we maybe struggled slightly more but we still kept the tyres alive and finished racing in a good position the best guest driver (among the TCR World Tour entries) and also winning the Spain is super important.”

Honda driver and TCR Spain rival Sten-Dorian Piirimagi started from the reversed grid pole position but was bumped out of the track at the start, paving the way for the Swede.

“One of my rivals had really big trouble in the start and we avoided that and just yeah kept it alive,” said Andersson.

Andersson also confirmed his participation in the third and final race which does not award TCR Spain points.

“It was really good, so I’m super happy, now one race to in the world tour so I will just go all out and try to see what we can do in overall race,” said Andersson.

“I think I start at around 5-6 somewhere, so that is a really good opportunity and also everyone is struggling with the heat. So I think it will be a tough race this afternoon, everyone is exhausted from all the heat and we will try to do our best.”
