Andrew Jordan still chasing two titles after Oulton

Andrew Jordan left Oulton Park still very much in the hunt for two titles, after keeping his cool in the chaos of race three to bag a vital win.

The Eurotech Racing driver left Cheshire just four points behind Matt Neal in the drivers’ championship, and 41 clear of Adam Morgan in the independents’ standings.

Jordan’s win came after team-mate Jeff Smith span off in front of him at the Knickerbrook chicane, denying the team a one-two finish. He said there had been no team orders up to that point.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Jordan said: “I just had to bide my time to an extent in the first few laps, because it was all kicking off. When I got into fourth I thought, ‘there’s a chance we could win this’.

“The car was really, really good and it was a shame we didn’t get a one-two. Unfortunately he [Smith] just lost the back going into Knickerbrook.

“We discussed if he could up his pace or not, and if not, we would have sorted it out. I wasn’t that close, I was only six lengths back, so it was pointless talking about orders at that point.”

Reflecting on the day as a whole, Jordan said: “After race two I thought it wasn’t going that great, with a fourth and a fifth. The car wasn’t where we wanted it.

“But after that, we are still up there in the championship. From our point of view, Jason [Plato] and Gordon [Shedden] had a bad one in the last race. It is a good day.

“I said this morning, if we could come away with three top sixes, it would be alright with how the car was. So to get a win was a nice surprise.”
