Maiden podium finish for elated Adam Morgan

An “over the moon” Adam Morgan couldn’t hide his delight after securing a maiden BTCC podium finish at his home circuit of Oulton Park.

Arguably the outstanding candidate for most improved driver in 2013, the Ciceley Racing man held off triple champion Matt Neal in the closing stages of the final race to take the flag in third.

The meeting saw the 24-year-old maintain his enviable record of finishing in the points in every race so far this season in his Toyota Avensis.  He has already more than doubled his total points score for the entire 2012 season.

“It is unbelievable. When I set out racing my dream was touring cars, and now I have got a podium in it. It’s just fantastic. A massive thanks to Ciceley Racing and all our sponsors,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes.

“The race was pretty tough. I knew where to put the car, but Matt’s been doing it a very long time, and knows where to get past.

“I saw him flashing his lights a couple of times to try and put me off. But to be racing against the likes of Matt Neal, with all his experience, is fantastic.

“It has been phenomenal – I am over the moon. It has filled me with confidence to prove I can be racing at the front.”

Regarding his overall performance in 2013, Morgan added: “What we have been aiming for all year is to be consistent. We were aiming for top tens, and every race I’ve finished in the top ten bar one.”
