Alexandre Prémat leaves Garry Rogers Motorsport
Alexandre Prémat has been confirmed to leave Garry Rogers Motorsport ahead of the 2014 V8 Supercars season.
“After examining my driving options both here and overseas and having had discussions with Garry I have decided to explore other avenues and I have informed Garry that I will not be driving for GRM in season 2014,” read a statement from the Frenchman.
Prémat joined the team in 2012, finishing 27th in his first season and 19th in 2013, after previously having competed in DTM, GP2, as well as being Formula 1 test driver for Spyker in 2006.
Speculation that Prémat might be leaving the team have been going on for a while, but the identity of his replacement is still unconfirmed. Scott McLaughlin is currently the sole confirmed driver for the team, which changes its name to Volvo Polestar Racing this year. Rumours have pointed at one of Polestar Racing’s Swedish drivers for the second and final seat.
Prémat has not yet stated his plans for the coming racing season.
