Seat hands win to Honda
With Thompson starting from the pits and Plato getting a 30 second stop-go penalty before the race even had started, Seat had no change to get a good result from their front-row positions they had qualified for yesterday. Honda and Shedden took advantage of it and was the happy victor in race one.
Thompson had to start from the pits because he failed to leave the pits before it was closed. Plato got his penalty because the team were still working on his tires after the 3 minute sign was shown.
The man who had the the biggest chance of taking advantage of the problems at Seat failed to do so. Martyn Bell, starting from third of the grid in his BMW, crashed out on the beginning of the second lap. His car is heavily damaged and it’s not sure if he’ll be able to participate in the further races today.
And so Gordon Shedden took a relatively easy win. He got home ahead of Mike Jordan, also driving a Honda Integra. James Kaye was the last man on the podium. He finished just in front of defending champion Matt Neal. Jason Plato eventualy got home in 14th, Thompson was 11th. Newcomer Adam Jones failed to finish his first BTCC-race.
