Marsh in Donington return
Richard Marsh will make his return to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at his home circuit of Donington Park on 30 July. The Ashbourne driver will race a Peugeot 307 under the Team Farecla banner.
Marsh, aged 38, tested the 307 yesterday at Silverstone – where he was aided by former BTCC champion Tim Harvey – and last week at Mallory Park.
The car, being run by the Coventry-based Team Griffin Racing operation, will have to carry an extra 45kgs of weight at Donington as penalty for starting the season late.
Marsh, who contested a handful of BTCC races towards the end of 2004, said: “The BTCC is definitely the highest profile motor racing championship in the UK and it’s a series in which my sponsors, the team and I are really looking to make a big impression.”
Marsh’s 307, running to BTC-specification, has undergone some extensive development work during the last 12 months and the former TVR Tuscan racer is planning to give his local fans something to cheer about at Donington.
He added: “We’ve worked hard to make sure the car handles just the way I like it and a recent test showed it’s much faster as well. I think we should be able to challenge hard at Donington and I’m expecting to get a strong result that will set us up nicely for the remainder of the season.”
