Oulton race 2: Turkington on top
Colin Turkington has won the second of today’s (Sunday) three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire.
On a wet track, Turkington’s Team RAC BMW took victory by just 0.046s from the second-placed Vauxhall Vectra of Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Having taken the championship lead from SEAT’s Jason Plato in race one, Italian Giovanardi now has a 12-point advantage over the British driver.
Third was the Eurotech Honda Integra of Mike Jordan who shared the race’s fastest lap with Giovanardi. However, the race required two safety car periods following separate accidents including a four-car pile-up at the first bend.
The top eight finishing positions will now be reversed to form the front of race three’s grid, meaning Team Air Cool SEAT Toledo driver Adam Jones will start the race from pole position. Starting alongside him will be SEAT’s Darren Turner who finished race two in seventh, and so on.
