Croft race 2: Turner’s first win

Darren Turner has won the second of today’s (Sunday) three Dunlop British Touring Car Championship races at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire.

Turner dramatically overtook SEAT team-mate Jason Plato exiting the final corner to secure his first race in the BTCC. He also set the race’s fastest lap.

Plato finished second to increase his championship lead over Fabrizio Giovanardi who was sixth. The Italian ace needed to drive back through the order after his Vauxhall had tangled mid-race with early leader Colin Turkington’s Team RAC BMW 320si that left both their cars stranded briefly in the middle of the track.

Gordon Shedden also enjoyed a spell in the lead until a steering problem on his Team Halfords Honda Civic forced his retirement.

Mike Jordan’s Team Eurotech Honda Integra ultimately finished third.
