Donington Race 2: Plato scores a win
Jason Plato has won the second of today’s three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire to stretch his lead in the series. On a wet track, SEAT driver Plato caught and passed early leader Gordon Shedden before pulling away for a clear victory, his fifth of the season. Plato also set the race’s fastest lap for a bonus point.
Shedden, the winner of race one in his Team Halfords Honda Civic, was second ahead of the third-placed Vauxhall Vectra of Fabrizio Giovanardi.
As a result, Plato has increased his lead over Giovanardi at the top of the table to nine points heading into this afternoon’s third race.
Meanwhile, the top nine will be reversed for race three’s starting grid order, putting Colin Turkington (Team RAC BMW 320si) on pole position. Giovanardi, Shedden and Plato will start from seventh, eighth
