Giovanardi & Plato awarded by Autosport

British Touring Car Championship rivals Fabrizio Giovanardi and Jason Plato got awarded at the Autosport Awards. Giovanardi was awarded the Gregor Grand Trophy.
“I think it is great to be here in front of so many people. I never have been in front of so many people! I am very proud to have this prize,” said Giovanardi to Autosport.

The BTCC title that Giovanardi secured ahead of Plato this year was his seventh touring car title. Plato, who finished second in the BTCC 2007, was awarded National Racing Driver of the year.

“It didn’t quite work for us, but that wasn’t due to the injuries. My team did a fantastic job all year. This year has been a different year to many in the paddock. The relationships between the championship contenders have been quite harmonious, and that has been great.”
