George eager to return to the BTCC

John George and TH Motorsport with JAG have confirmed their continued participation in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship during 2008.
The team will return in the Honda Integra that they campaigned in last year’s championship.

George achieved four points position finishes in the 2007 championship, with a best result of eighth in the latter part of the season. He also secured tenth place overall in the Independent Drivers’ championship.

Trevor Humphrey, principal of the Watford-based TH squad, said: “2007 was a steep learning curve for both the team and John, as everything only came together just before the Media Day. Having said that, the whole team gelled very quickly and John was able to put in some strong performances. We are expecting increased competitiveness in 2008 and have in fact set ourselves some high achievement targets.”

George, the 46-year-old boss of the mobile communications network JAG, has recently acquired Perranporth airport in his native Cornwall which allows him to commute by private plane to and from his home in Guernsey.

He went on to say: “It was great to return to the BTCC in 2007. However I must admit the bar has been raised since my first campaign in 2004.

“I have no doubt the bar will be raised even higher in 2008. Believe me, I cannot wait to sit behind the wheel again. The BTCC is the only place to be and I am looking forward to the 2008 season more than I can ever remember looking forward to a season before.”
