Turkington tops first Brands practice

The first practice session of the first British Touring Car Championship race weekend of the year was topped by Team RAC-driver Colin Turkington. His best time was 49.600 – 0.023 seconds faster than SEAT’s diesel-hope Jason Plato. Third was Fabrizio Giovanardi making it a BMW-SEAT-Vauxhall top three.

The session had its fastest times put right at the end. This was due to an earlier light rain and a drying track.

A lot of focus was on the diesel-powered SEAT-cars of Jason Plato and Darren Turner. As expected the powerful diesel engine showed its power with both SEAT-cars fastest through the two speed tracks across the start/finish-straight and Cooper Straight.

BMW-cars occupied the fourth and fifth fastest times with Mat Jackson and Steven Cane.
