Gordon Shedden takes Rockingham pole
Gordon Shedden confirmed the strong form of Team Halfords as he took pole position for the second round of the British Touring Car Championship at Rockingham. The Honda-man immediately dedicated his pole to David Leslie.
“It’s great for everyone in my team but this is for David. I hope I can go on and get a win or two for him tomorrow as well,” said Shedden to BTCC.net.
“But it’s going to be tough. I know Matt and I know how much he wants to win, but I’m confident. We’ve done some very good development work with our car in the week and we’re in very strong shape.”
Matt Neal took second place in his Vauxhall Vectra, 0.227 seconds behind Shedden. But the real shock was Adam Jones in the Team Air Cool-SEAT Léon taking third place – outpacing the two factory diesel SEAT’s of Darren Turner and Jason Plato!
Championship leader and reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi took tenth spot on the grid, right behind Mat Jackson.
