Jackson wins second Rockingham race

The second race of the day at Rockingham was won by BMW Dealer Team UK-driver Mat Jackson. SEAT-man Darren Turner lead the race initially but was passed by Fabrizio Giovanardi who in his turn could not hold back Jackson.
“It’s a great result to pull out from sixth on the grid. Fabrizio made a slight mistake and dropped a wheel on the grass and I was able to pounce,” said Jackson to BTCC.net.

Giovanardi had contact with Turner before and had some damage on his Vauxhall Vectra.

“There was contact between me and Turner and it damaged my rear wheel so affected the handling slightly. But Mat drove a great race and was very strong. This happens in racing… I cannot complain,” said Giovanardi.

Turner felt lucky that he was able to finish the race and explained his version of the incident.

“There was a rub with Fabrizio and that damaged both my left front wheel and his right rear. We were probably both lucky to finish the race. After that I had to keep on defending to the flag to keep third,” said Turner.

Fourth went to race one winner Shedden, fifth to Tom Onslow-Cole and sixth to Colin Turkington.
