Plato: “My weekend was ruined by Chilton”
Jason Plato feels that Tom Chilton destroyed his chances to score valuable points in the second and third race at Rockingham. The two tangled together in the second race which forced Plato to pit and check the damage.
“The weekend for me was ruined by Tom Chilton in race two. You can’t change your line in a braking area, and coming down from 130mph into a hairpin corner he just turned left into me. It wrecked his race as well as mine,” said Plato to BTCC.net.
“We had to pit to check the car over and from last position we finished ninth – and then we were a little unlucky as the top eight was selected to start race three in reverse order.”
Despite the off Plato was able, thanks to a safety car period, to fight back up to ninth place. But in the third race he had to start with a 30 second stop-go penalty in the pit lane due to his mechanics working too long with the car on the grid.
“Sometimes you have days where everything you do just doesn’t go quite according to plan, and this was one of those days. It’s been a bit of a lottery, and we haven’t had much luck – although in race two and three we’ve had some great drives back up through the field from last place,” said Plato.
In the points Plato dropped to sixth, 28 points after championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi. The third race at Rockingham was the first race in over a year that Plato failed to score points.
