Onslow-Cole quickest in Donington practise

Vauxhall driver Tom Onslow-Cole has set the fastest time in the first practise session of today at Donington Park, where the third round of the British Touring Car Championship will be held this weekend. Team Dynamics driver Gordon Shedden finished the session in second place, just over a tenth slower than Onslow-Cole.

Last years champion Fabrizio Giovanardi set the third fastest time, ahead of SEAT’s Jason Plato. Mat Jackson, who currently lies second in the championship and is the biggest opponent of Giovanardi at the moment, posted the eighth fastest time, half a second slower than Giovanardi, almost eight tenths slower than the fastest man.

Erkut Kizilirmak failed to do any laps during the first practise session, as his Vauxhall Astra Sport was stuck in the garage with problems. Chris Stockton also encountered problems with BTC Racing’s new SEAT Toledo’s. Stockton only managed to do a couple of installation laps before his car came back to the pits with minor clutch problems.

The second practise session is scheduled for 13:25 CET.
