Darren Turner wins race 3 at Donington
Darren Turner ends a successful day for SEAT Sport UK, winning the final race at Donington Park. Turner led every lap of the race, despite Tom Onslow-Cole applying pressure towards the end of the race. Tom Onslow-Cole recorded the fastest lap in race 3 finishing in 2nd place in front of the second SEAT Leon TDI driven by Jason Plato
The final race at Donington was damp throughout, though the rain was fairly light, especially in comparison to the Donington round of the BTCC in 2007. The track surface for the final race was slippery. Gordon Shedden led the race for the majority of lap 1 until he took his Team Halfords Honda Civic straight on at the final chicane giving the lead to Darren Turner.
Team mates bumping on track is always controversial but Giovanardi is a true racing driver, so when he saw a chance to pass his team mate he had a half attempt and nudged Onslow-Cole into a slight spin. Giovanardi did get past Onslow-Cole a couple of laps later, only to lose it again this time allowing Plato through as well. Giovanardi did not give up on Plato until the very end of the race however had to settle for 4th behind Plato thereby reducing his lead to 16 points.
Adam Jones finished 7th in his Air Cool SEAT and being the first privateer to cross the line giving him top spot in the Independent standings.
Andrew Jordan only lasted 9 laps in total and slid of the track at McLeans losing his second position. It was a disastrous ending to what would of otherwise been the perfect day for Andrew.
