Howell has to wait to return to BTCC
Gareth Howell will now have to wait a bit longer to race for his new team BTC Racing it has been revealed.
Howell was due to stand in for team leader Chris Stockton at the next round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton as a clashing business commitment would have prevented Stockton from racing.
But the team and in particular Chris Stockton was overwhelmed at the performance they acheived in their first run in the front wheel drive Seat Toledo, Stockton has decided he will continue to race the car.
“Yeah I’ll be there at Thruxton, Stockton told autosport.com. “I decided that pretty much as I got out of the car after the second race.”
Stockton secured a career-best eighth place finish in race two at Donington Park at the weekend in the ex-Motorbase car that ironically was driven by Howell during the early part of last season.
It seems that BTC Racing have been given a lease of life due to the change of car, even though many memebers of the team were sad to see the loss of the Lexus.
The buzz around the team was to be seen by all.

Three-time race-winner Howell is now due to race at Snetterton and Oulton Park as team regular Stuart Oliver has truck racing commitments on those weekends.
