Onslow-Cole has gone from pole position to win the first race at Thruxton, the Hampshire based track. The VX Racing driver only turned 21 this Friday and celebrates with a pole position and race 1 win. Shedden initially led the race after getting a better start however a puncture at Church put an end to his lead
Gordon Shedden had a great start to take the lead ahead of Onslow-Coles VX Racing Vauxhall. Shedden however was forced to pit after he suffered a puncture during the race. The puncture occurred at Church. Shedden was pushed back to 14th as a result of the pit stop and time lost limping back to the pits.
Jason Plato was quick off the start, moving from 6th to 3rd in the first lap. He then inherited 2nd place due to Shedden’s puncture however he came under heavy pressure from Turkington on lap 13 when Turkington put his BMW 320si E90 down the inside of the SEAT Leon TDI into turn 1.
Turkington started the race from 8th position however in race 1 he drove superbly passing Giovanardi and Plato on his way to second position. Giovanardi was running heavy with maximum success ballast however he still pushed Plato hard for most of the race getting side by side on a number of occasions.
Mat Jackson did well after a poor qualifying making 6 places from 12 in qualifying to finish race 1 in 6th position.
The race suffered only 1 retirement, Harry Vaulkhard had nudged John George into the tyre wall. Both seemed to continue however Harry Vaulkhard retired his Robertshaw Racing Chevrolet Lacetti having only completed 6 laps.
Update:
Jason Plato has seen his hard fought third position taken away after his SEAT Leon TDI failed scrutineering for a ride height infringement.
