Team48 unlikely to show in 2008.
Team48 it seems, will not be competing in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship during the 2008 season.
With the fifth round of the season at Croft circuit just days away, the team will again not be in attendance.
The man put in charge of pulling the resources together for Team48, would-be Team Manager Les Latham, has told TouringCarTimes that he does not believe that the team will ever take to the track this season.
Even though the team attended the BTCC Media day in March, and information has come from Team48 stating that their appearance is imminent, the cars they plan to use are still with their previous owner.
“Everything is in place to compete in the championship, everything except the cars,” said Latham.
“I am disappointed with the way things have gone, people have put a lot of time and money into help setting up the squad with nothing to show for their hard work. The team and people connected with the championship have been let down, big time.”
“Croft is this weekend and we should be out there on the grid.”
Latham went on to say: “We are still hopeful of getting two cars on the grid for this season under the banner of PT Motorsport.”
“As we have the team structure in place and I have two interested drivers wanting to go racing. As a result, we are currently negotiating for two cars and are hoping to be able to go racing during the second half of this season.”
So there is a chance that we will get to see the Alfa Romeo badge back out in the BTCC again. Or perhaps another brand…
