Giovanardi takes win in third race
With taking the win and fastest lap in the third race of the day at Croft, Fabrizio Giovanardi has extended his lead in the British Touring Car Championship over his nearest rival even further. Matt Neal has claimed this role as nearest rival by finishing in third in this afternoons last race, and with that climbing to second place in the standings.
Jones, who started from second, had to let Robert Collard past at the start. Collard profited from his rear-wheel-drive traction from fourth on the grid. Jones forced his way pasted Collard with a perfect move at Sunny In. As Collard tried to fall back into line behind Jones, he was hit by Mike Jordan. A lap after that Collard had to retire with accident damages.
Jordan was able to continue, but later had to retire with damage after running of the track while defending third place against Matt Neal. Jordan’s off delayed Mat Jackson, giving Tom Chilton the chance to pass.
Both SEAT drivers failed to score points in the last race. Darren Turner did not finish after contact with Mat Jackson at Clervaux. Jason Plato colided with Colin Turkington and damaged his car to much to be able to get out a good result. Plato finished the race in 12th, Turkington finished in 8th.
