Jackson almost takes win from 18th
Colin Turkington has taken his second win of the day at Croft. In doing so, the Northern Irishman denied Mat Jackson the ultimate crown to his heroic drive from 18th on the grid to the front of the field. Jackson finished the race in second, just a tenth of a second behind race winner Turkington. Matt Neal took his second podium finish of the day in third.
It was a sensational drive from Mat Jackson, who overtook 17 cars on a drying wet track. On the penultimate corner it almost looked as he would overtake the 18th car as well, as Colin Turkington nearly lost control of his car, but the BMW driver was able to hold on and took the win.
There were two big casaulties of the wet track. Gordon Shedden retired after contact with Matt Neal. The pair were fighting over second place, and as the pair touched, the Scot spun of into the barriers.
Steven Kane was on his way to finish in fifth, one place behind his teammate Rob Collard, but on the last lap his BMW left the track momentarily and he crawled back to the pits.
Michael Doyle also didn’t make it to the finish. The Honda driver crashed after lying in nineth and his car was to damaged to continue his race.
