SEAT dominates Snetterton qualifying

SEAT dominated the qualifying session at Snetterton today with a 1-2. Jason Plato took pole ahead of his team mate Darren Turner.
“Perfect. Our car is working beautifully here and I only needed a couple of laps to produce that time. But tomorrow is a different day and despite the nice gap back to the others we’ll be taking nothing for granted,” said Plato to BTCC.net.

“I’ve said before, though, that is a make or break weekend in terms of the championship.”

Gordon Shedden took third place on the grid, half a second behind Plato. Fourth went to championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi, an impressive effort as he is carrying maximum ballast.

Tom Chilton took fifth position on the grid ahead of Tom Onslow-Cole. Colin Turkington was the best BMW-driver ahead of BMW-rival Steven Kane. Adam Jones was ninth in the privately owned SEAT Léon with Stephen Jelley rounding out top ten. Jones is the leading independent as rival Mat Jackson will start from 13th on the grid. The Jackson Motorsport-team had to rebuild his BMW 320si following a shunt in the morning practice.
