Mat Jackson wins, Kane takes first podium
Mat Jackson drives an excellent and eventful third race to take victory. Mat Jackson led every lap of the third race defending well from Steven Kane. Steven Kane followed extremely close to take his first podium in what has turned into a strong weekend for his Motorbase team. Mat Jackson and Steven Kane’s 1st and 2nd meant the highest manufacturer, Giovanardi in the Vauxhall finished only 3rd.
Steven Kane fought hard to finish second, moving onto the back of Jackson in the latter parts of the race. He drove faultlessly throughout the race not putting a foot wrong. He finished only 0.770s behind rival Mat Jackson in the end and was ecstatic when he got out of the car at the end of the race.
Giovanardi drove a solid race to finish in third position. He looked as though he could of pushed harder to fight for first place however on hearing his close rival Plato was out of the race he settled for the safe option allowing the two BMW’s ahead a 1-2 finish.
Jason Plato had a terrible start losing positions and then as the race went on, both SEAT Leon TDI’s developed a misfire in the engine causing both cars to lose performance. Turner came into the pits first in an attempt to locate the problem followed by Plato a couple of laps later. SEAT could not locate the problem however and shortly after returning to the race track, Plato was subject to a black flag and there ended his race in what looked to be the perfect weekend for Plato after the first two races. Jason Plato had moved into second place in the championship after the second race, however his retirement in the third race allowed Matt Neal to jump back into the second spot.
Tom Onslow-cole had a good race, finishing fifth just behind his team mate Natt Neal. Tom Onslow-Cole made a number of great passes showing the speed of the Vauxhall Vectra VXR.
