Turkington wins race 2 as SEAT fail again

Colin Turkington won the second HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park. Pole-sitter Plato initially led the race, getting a great start off the line however his SEAT Leon TDI failed again due to the same engine mis-fire problem that gave SEAT a nightmare in the final race at Snetterton last time out. Turner retired from 6th place after a suspension failure leaving SEAT with a double DNF. Turkington controlled the race well pulling out a sizable lead finishing with a gap of 6.779s

Giovanardi made the most of Plato’s misfortune, finishing second behind Turkington and extending his lead in the championship standings. Giovanardi was followed by his Vauxhall team mate Tom Onslow-Cole to give Vauxhall the last two podium spots.

The mid-field provided spectators with a thrilling race, trading places and paint to get out on top. Steven Kane finished top of the chasing pack in 4th place after starting 9th followed by Mat Jackson who also made good progress from his starting position of 12th to finish in 5th place. Adam Jones looked strong making up 2 places to finish 6th.

Matt Neal finished in 7th place which on the face of it does not seem impressive however he battled from 15th on the grid after his drive through penalty in race 1 left him near the back of the field.

Gordon Shedden, Andrew Jordan and Stephen Jelly rounded off the top 10.
