SEAT dominate qualifying at Knockhill
SEAT have scored their third consecutive 1-2 in Qualifying after Darren Turner put his SEAT Leon TDI on pole ahead of team-mate Jason Plato. The qualifying session saw a great fight to score the fastest lap time. Plato, Turner and Tom Chilton all fought hard at the top. Turner posted a time of 53.163 early in the session. Plato posted a time just 0.013s behind his team mate with only 90 seconds of the session remaining.
Tom Chilton had an impressive outing scoring third position however he will be moved back 6 places as punishment for his actions at Oulton Park where he was deemed to have caused a large crash taking out Steven Kane.
Both Tom Onslow-Cole and Matt Neal out qualified the reigning the champion and team-mate Fabrizio Giovanardi with a 4th, 5th and 7th respectively. They were split by Colin Turkington.
Matt Jackson recorded 8th fastest time, closely followed by Andrew Jordon who after scoring his first BTCC podium at Oulton Park recorded his best qualifying result to date with 9th.
Local hero Shedden could only manage 10th. He’d have expected more being strong at Knockhill in previous years and having a good run to take a race 3 win at Oulton Park last time out.
The half hour qualifying session was dry for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship and saw the top 16 cars all record a time within 1 second of pole-sitter Turner’s time. Expect the close racing that is now expected at Knockhill for tomorrows three races.
