SEAT win all three races at Knockhill
SEAT dominated Knockhill winning all three races with Turner winning race 3 to turn his weekend’s fortunes around in what was a dramatic final race. SEAT may well be pleased to win all three races however Plato suffered again after a starting strongly he battled hard with the Vauxhall of Onslow-Cole, eventually being taken out of the race. Rob Collard came a magnificent 2nd scoring the first podium of the season for him and Motorbase while the young Jordan came third for the second time this season.
Andrew Jordan had the benefit of luck on his side after race 2 when his position was selected for the reverse grid in race 3 placing him on pole. He started slow unfortunately and dropped to third which he still had to fight for when Turkington initially applied the pressure. Jordan held tight though and stayed in third for the rest of the race to score his second podium of the season.
Darren Turner was fast from the start, taking first place right away. He did get pressure from Rob Collard during the race however a safety car period that was brought out to recover Plato’s car, actually helped Turner conserve tires and allowed Turner to hold onto first til the end.
Rob Collard was delighted with his first podium of the season for Motorbase finishing second.
Local man Gordon Shedden initially looked on course for a third 4th place finish however he had to battle hard with Matt Neal. The traded paint with a large shunt on lap 19, they both continued in formation. It was a couple of laps later however when Turkington joined the battle. Shedden ran a little wide opening the door for Neal, when they came round the corner Turkington hit Neal who in turn nudged Shedden. Both Neal and Shedden performed a fantastic synchronised slide through the gravel, with Shedden losing a number of places as a result eventually finishing 8th. Turkington finished way back in 15th.
Jackson, Giovanardi, Chilton and Neal all fought hard with most receiving battle scars in what was one of the closest races of the season with all leaving the track a number a number of times during the race. The end result was 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th for Jackson, Giovanardi, Chilton and Neal respectively.
Steven Kane and Adam Jones rounded of the top 10 with 9th and 10th respectively.
The fighting was not restricted to the mid-field, as John George took substantial damage whilst racing Alan Taylor.
