Plato makes it SEAT 1-2 at Silverstone
There was no stopping the SEAT’s during the qualifying session of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone today. Jason Plato took pole with 0.144 seconds ahead of his team mate Darren Turner.
“This is a great result for SEAT.. All I can do is to keep winning and to hope Fabrizio has some bad luck… and starting back there in 11th he’s in the zone where anything can happen in touring cars,” said Plato to BTCC.net.
Colin Turkington was best BMW-man in third position, 0.286 seconds behind Plato. Tom Onslow-Cole took fourth place ahead of team mate Matt Neal. Steven Kane headed manufacturer colleauge Stephen Jelley in sixth.
Championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi was mystified about his starting position, 11th.
“We’ve lost grip and chassis balance. I’m not worried about starting so far back as long as we can find out where the performance has gone,” said Giovanardi.
