Jason Plato joins Race of Champions

British Touring Car Championship ace Jason Plato will take part in the Race Of Champions this coming weekend.
“With only a passing interest in football, I never thought I’d be preparing for my sporting debut at Wembley Stadium – but that’s exactly what I’m doing,” Plato wrote in a column in The Sun.

Plato will be heading up against names as Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Sebastien Loeb and Mattias Ekström.

“I’ve always been interested in the Race of Champions. It’s the ultimate shoot-out between motor racing greats and since the first event back in 1988 it has established itself on the motorsport calendar,” wrote Plato.

Although it is not clear in which team Plato will be in. Fellow British Touring Car-ace Andy Priaulx is listed to drive with Button. Coulthard on the other hand is not yet listed with a team mate, but his team is named “Team F1 Racing Great Britain”.

Other touring car drivers in the ROC this year are Yvan Muller and Tom Kristensen.
