Andrew Jordan joins Vauxhall factory team
Andrew Jordan joins Vauxhall for the British Touring Car Championship 2009 season. The contract was announced today at the Autosport International Show and the 20-year-old Brit will team up with Fabrizio Giovanardi and Matt Neal.
“It’s really exciting to be driving for Vauxhall. I know it will be hard but I am excited by the challenge, especially considering the quality of my team mates,” said Jordan.
“Both Fabrizio and Matt have a huge amount of experience, so I will be asking quite a few questions. At 19, I know I still have a lot to learn.”
Earlier it was announced that Jordan was going to drive a Vectra for the privateers Team Eurotech with support from the official Vauxhall-team. But the plan has been changed and Jordan will instead be a part of the works sqad.
“We are delighted to have Andrew join the VX Racing family for 2009. He has already demonstrated that he has the talent and potential to be a fantastic racing driver; he will really fit in with the team,” said Stuart Harris of Vauxhall.
Last season Jordan drove a Honda for John Guest Racing and finished 13th in the championship, right ahead of his father Mike Jordan who put his helmet on the shelf after the 2008 season.
