BTC Racing call it a day in the BTCC

BTC Racing has confirmed that they will not be returning to the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship this season.
The team has recently sold their SEAT Toledos complete with all spares to team Maxtreme who will be running Liam McMillan in one of the cars in the 2009 BTCC, leaving the team with no suitable cars to continue.

In a statement posted on the teams web-site: “BTC Racing will not be running in the 2009 season.

“The cars have been sold to a new and up coming team and we wish them every success in their time in the BTCC.

“The team has no current plans at this time and will continue to review its options. We wish to thank everybody that has supported us and hope to see you all again soon.”

BTC made their British touring car debut at the end of the 2006 season with a Lexus IS200 for Chris Stockton and continue to run the rear-wheel drive cars until the third round of last season, when they bought the Toledos from Motorbase Performance.

The Lexus cars have been sold seperately to buyers abroad.

In a recent interview with Crash.net Stockton was reported as saying that they were looking into running a SEAT Leon, but it seems that due to the finacial situation, the team has dropped their plans for this.

Team owners Bert Taylor and Chris Stockton have been linked with GT racing, albeit not in the same team.

All at TouringCarTimes wish BTC Racing a speedy return.
