Plato or Nash to drive Tempus Chevrolet?

The second Chevrolet Lacetti of Tempus Sport is still without a driver. Jason Plato could be the one, the previous British Touring Car Championship champion is in talks with the team.
“Jason likes the idea of being and underdog, which is exactly what we will be in everyone’s opinion,” said team boss Richard Coleman to Autosport.

The team is currently working hard on getting Plato to drive for them. But if the deal gets through, it will most likely be for just one year.

“We know too that it will probably be just a one-year thing, because a driver like Jason is bound to have plenty of options for 2010. But if we can get it sported, then definitely it will be an exciting line-up for us,” said Coleman.

Plato was left without a drive when SEAT decided to leave BTCC after the 2008 season. The Brit is believed to still be under pay from SEAT, and some of his other sponsors are said to require that he gets a drive for 2009.

But Plato is not the only driver up for the second seat at Tempus Sport. The 23 year old James Nash is in serious talks with the team.

“As far as the situation with James in concerned, everyone is working flat out to get contracts signed and sponsor and things sorted and all of that. It is not absolutely definite, but we are getting towards it,” said Coleman.

The decision of the second driver is expected to be revealed within the week.
