Collard ahead of Neal in second practice

Robert Collard topped the second practice session of the premiere British Touring Car Championship weekend of 2009. The BMW-man put a lap time of 48.941 seconds.
“It’s going good so far. I was happy with the car in practice this morning and now with the changes we’ve made for this session,” said Collard to BTCC.net.

“You never know of course what the others are up to but if we can repeat that performance in qualifying this afternoon then we should be looking good.”

The times at Brands was as usual very close. The two Vauxhall drivers Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan was just 0.056 and 0.063 seconds slower respectively.

Gordon Shedden was the first man outside the 49 second barrier in the Team Dynamics Honda Civic. Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi was fifth ahead of newcomer Jonathan Adam in the Airwaves BMW.

All eyes were on Jason Plato in the RML prepared Chevrolet Lacetti. The previous BTCC champion managed ninth fastest time of the session with manufacturer colleague Harry Vaulkhard in tenth.

The Team Aon driver Tom Chilton and Alan Morrison was 16th and 17th respectively.
