Collard fuming after Jelley incident
It did not take more than three races until the spirits ran high in the British Touring Car Championship. Rob Collard was more than unhappy with BMW colleague Stephen Jelley after their incident in race three.
“I’m still very disappointed with what happened. I find that Stephen’s over-driving a bit,” said Collard to BTCC.net.
“He tried going around the outside of me and Matt Neal which is never going to happen.
Why he then kept his foot in while he was on the grass only he knows. He needs to learn that sometimes you are beaten and you need to back off.”
The both spun and Jelley retired while Collard was able to rejoin the race and finish eight.
“The biggest mistake I made was taking my life in my own hands by going round the outside of someone like Rob.
“It was a realistic move, I’d got a run on him and he should have given me a bit of room. If he had there’d have never been contact,” said Jelley to BTCC.net.
