Jelley ahead of Plato at Donington Park

Stephen Jelley has started the British Touring Car Championship race at Donington Park on top. The first free practice saw the Team RAC driver fastest after setting the time 1:13.634. Second fastest was Chevrolet driver Jason Plato only one tenths behind. Rob Collard made it two BMW’s in top three, only 0.018 seconds slower than Plato.

Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi was fourth fastest in the Vauxhall Vectra ahead of previous champion James Thompson in the Team Dynamics Honda Civic.

BTCC newcomer Jonathan Adam was sixth fastest ahead of rival BMW driver Colin Turkington in seventh.

Harry Vaulkhard put eight fastest time, four tenths behind Jelley, ahead of Matt Neal and Adam Jones.

Top drivers Andrew Jordan and Mat Jackson were unable to breach in to top ten and was eleventh and 14th respectively.
