Giovanardi fuming after Vaulkhard clash

Fabrizio Giovanardi was upset, to say the least, after his clash with Harry Vaulkhard in the third race at Donington Park. The Italian confronted Vaulkhard after the race, as seen in the picture.
“What happened on track was just unfortunate, but I fully accept the officials’ decision. When we got out of the cars he actually started screaming ‘what is your problem?’ To me it was all a bit melodramatic,” said Vaulkhard to BTCC.net.

“I certainly don’t want to fall out with the guy. Maybe he was under pressure, hadn’t got the result he wanted and that’s why he behaved like that.”

The both fought for second position in the race when Vaulkhard made a move which resulted in Giovanardi spinning.

“I cannot say what I think about Vaulkhard because you couldn’t print it. It would just read ‘bleep, bleep, bleep…’

OK, my car touched his before early in the race but the track was slippery and in those conditions it was a typical touring car move,” said Giovanardi.

Giovanardi felt that Vaulkhard wanted him out of the race as he hit him so many times.

“But later, at McLeans, he hit me once and I thought ‘OK, it’s the same’. But then he hit me again and kept on pushing. It was if he didn’t care what happened to him or his car. He just wanted to take me out even if it meant he retired. This is going too far and this is why I am angry with him.”
