Nick Leason will miss next two rounds

After their disastrous weekend Donington Park, in which Nick Leason was involved in incidents in all three races, AFM racing is expecting to miss the next two rounds to repair the car. The team wants to concentrate on giving them time to get the car back up to speed after the damage the car sustained.

“I hope people understand we are only a very small team with an extremely small budget so we are always working so hard in need of more funding to progress further”, Nick Leason said, commenting on the news.

“With what happened to us at Donington, this unfortunately has now put us back a few weeks. With the need to re-group and pick ourselves up, taking a step back to assess what else needs improving.

“We are being sensible, even though it has been a very hard decision to take. We hope to have the car sorted out by next week, and then do a test session to start honing car set up”, Leason went on to say. “The team have all worked so hard, having pin pointed handling issues, putting several updates on the car to improve the pace and handling, but unfortunately, did not get the chance to set the car up correctly.

“The right time is now to sort these issues out. With a bit of luck we can move forward showing further progress and start racing again. Missing maybe one, or even two races, if it requires, is not the end of the world when you look at the bigger picture. The whole team are looking to achieve competitive results with this car, working with limited resources.”

Team Manger Steve Collins said he was proud of what the team is trying to achieve, backed by the progress made by all of the team. “We have great technical support and partners behind us that understand the situation and are willing to work with us to be very competitive.”

“Unfortunately we have had a few issues with parts for the car and the sooner we can resolve this the quicker we can test and get back out there with Nick racing.

“Just now, we need a bit of time for us to work on the car to get it right. We just don’t seem to have luck or the true financial support we really need on our side at present, but are all working hard to make this change.”
