Giovanardi struggles in the heat
Fabrizio Giovanardi says that the heat at Oulton Park stopped him from getting a better qualifying position. The Italian was best of the three Vauxhall drivers in eight.
“It wasn’t the start I wanted for this weekend. I don’t think it was the set up that was a problem; I think it was the change of weather that has been the biggest issue,” said Giovanardi.
“Our car is longer than the others and suffered more on the front tyres. This morning, and even in testing, when it was colder, it was a completely different car,” said Giovanardi.
Giovanardi is carrying a lot of penalty weight, but does not feel that the weight was stopping them.
“I don’t think that the weight was such a problem, as we saw from Turkington, but it is definitely the heat that is the biggest challenge,” said Giovanardi.
The hot weather is predicted to continue throughout the weekend and the Vauxhall team is working hard to change the car.
“We don’t think it will be any different tomorrow, so we’ll need to look at setup changes for these conditions.”
