Thompson takes Oulton race three
The third British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Oulton Park went to James Thompson. The Team Dynamics Honda driver held the lead from start to finish and won by 2.3 seconds over Vauxhall man Andrews Jordan. Third spot was claimed by championship leader Matt Neal.
The winner of the two first races today, Colin Turkington, had a far worse third race and finished eleventh.
Turkington was fighting for ninth in the closing stages of the race with Mat Jackson. The two collided which resulted in Turkington dropping to eleventh and Jackson finished eight.
Turkington was in the championship lead after the second race today, but the low score in the third race meant that Neal retook the lead with two points.
But Robert Collard looked as he for a while would ruin Neal’s chances of leading the championship. The BMW driver came really close to passing Neal after making a very nice drive through the field after a low starting position.
Best Chevrolet driver was Jason Plato in fifth ahead of Vauxhall man Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Adam Jones took seventh ahead of Jackson in eight, Paul O’Neill in ninth and Alan Morrison in tenth.
