Turkington is unstoppable at Oulton
There was no stopping Colin Turkington in the second race of the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park. The win means that the BMW driver heads the championship table.
“The BMW has always been very strong at Oulton and in the heat – today is 25 degrees – it just excels. I’m just making a point of getting the starts right and then I get on with it and it’s working out for us,” said Turkington to BTCC.net.
Turkington took command of the race instantly and was never threatened by anyone.
Second position went to Fabrizio Giovanardi who finished seven seconds behind Turkington.
Third placed man was Chevrolet man Jason Plato after a hard fight with Matt Neal.
The Vauxhall driver was all over Plato during the race, but could not get past.
Neal almost lost fourth as he tried to pass Plato on the final lap which enabled Airwaves BMW man Jonathan Adam to get really close. Neal crossed the line two hundredths of a second ahead of Adam.
Andrew Jordan was lurking behind the trio fighting for third but never got close enough and finished sixth.
James Thompson clinched seventh ahead of SEAT driver Adam Jones. Paul O’Neill crossed the line ninth ahead of Team Aon’s Alan Morrison.
