Turkington takes first win at Oulton
Colin Turkington took his first win of the year during the first race at Oulton Park today. The BMW man started third but was able, thanks to the rear wheel drive, to get past pole man Jason Plato and Mat Jackson before the first corner.
Plato was never able to get close to Turkington who finished first, 3.7 seconds clear.
Plato secured second while his team mate Jackson suffered a worse fate. Jackson had to retire on the penultimate lap after a puncture which instead dropped him to 19th.
Jonathan Adam became the new third placed man ahead of reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi in the Vauxhall Vectra.
Giovanardi had a hard job fighting with Team RAC man Stephen Jelley in the closing stages of the race. A single tenths of a second separated the both over the finish line.
Adam Jones secured sixth for Clyde Valley Racing ahead of Matt Neal. And Neal saw his championship lead shrink to a single point ahead of race winner Turkington.
James Thompson finished seventh ahead of Robert Collard and Andrew Jordan. BTCC first timer James Nash finished eleventh.
