Giovanardi: “I am very happy with my win”

Fabrizio Giovanardi took his first win in eleven races in the final British Touring Car Championship race at Croft.
“I have had to wait a while to win again, but my car was very quick in this race,” said Giovanardi.

Thanks to a brave move on James Thompson in the pouring rain, Giovanardi was able to snatch the win.

“I am very happy with my manoeuvre and I’m very happy with my win, but I have to say thank you to James.

I knew my car was quite grippy, even in those conditions and that I could try this move, but he was very fair. Not all drivers would have given me the same room,” said Giovanardi to BTCC.net.

But Giovanardi was worried that he was not even going to be given the chance to race with Thompson at all.

“I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t get back ahead of James (Thompson) with the second safety car and knew I only needed one lap to do it, so I was relieved when we started racing again,” said Giovanardi.

Thanks to the win Giovanardi strengthened his third place in the championship and gained 15 points on his team mate Matt Neal, reducing the gap to only four points.

The BTCC is currently on its summer break and returns on August the 2nd at Snetterton.
