Drivers hold Plato favorite for Snetterton

British Touring Car Championship top drivers Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and Fabrizio Giovanardi hold Chevrolet man Jason Plato as favorite ahead of the race at Snetterton this weekend.
“Jason’s shown at several recent rounds he can turn up to circuits where he has not driven that car before and really be difficult to beat and I don’t think it’ll be any different at Snetterton,” said Turkington to BTCC.net.

While Plato has done no testing at all with the Chevrolet at Snetterton, Turkington does not think that it will matter.

“Also, we lost a decent portion of the Snetterton test due to heavy rain so I don’t think we’ll have stolen much of an advantage on him.”

Vauxhall man Neal is worried about the extraordinary straight line speed of the Chevrolet Lacetti.

“That Chevrolet is so fast on the straights – and at Snetterton there are two of the longest straights in the UK – that he doesn’t need to worry about being quick around the corners!

I think he could be in a similarly strong position when we get to Silverstone later in the month – it’s the kind of circuit where he might be untouchable. Colin’s moved into a decent lead but Jason is very much in there with us now,” said Neal.

Neal’s team mate Giovanardi agrees and has no doubt that Plato’s team, RML, is going to deliver.

“RML which runs the Chevrolet is a world class organisation and Jason is a world class driver. Anyone who thinks he will be disadvantaged will be proved wrong,” said Giovanardi.
