Turkington delighted with season so far

Team RAC’s Colin Turkington and Stephen Jelley warmed up for Snetterton by dropping in on a training session at Norwich City this week. The drivers, and a BMW 320si, were present at the Canaries training ground in Colney, as Norwich prepare for the start of the football season.

New signing Owain Tudur Jones was just one of the footballers present, and he was impressed with the visitors, saying:

“It was fantastic to meet Colin and Stephen and take a closer look at the Team RAC car. It was very interesting to hear about the preparation and demands involved in being a racing driver. I’ll be looking out for the guys this weekend and I’m sure fans going along are in for a cracking day of racing.”

While Norwich City are only just readying themselves for the start of their season, Team RAC and Turkington are mid-way through theirs, and the Northern Irishman is please with how it’s going.

“I’m delighted with my season so far. It was fantastic going into the break leading the Driver’s Championship and is real testament to Team RAC, who have worked hard to give me a great car.

Snetterton will be tough as I will be carrying maximum ballast but we’re hoping for a hot day in Norfolk, which will increase our chances of success.”

Coming at the end of a seven-week break in proceedings, Jelley too is keen to get back to racing.

“Snetterton will be a challenge. The nature of the circuit’s long straights make it hard to get on the front row but confidence is high at the moment after great performances at Croft so we’re eager to get back out there.”
