Difficult qualifying for Rob Collard

Airwaves driver Rob Collard experienced a hard qualifying session this afternoon at Snetterton. The Hampshireman only qualified in 14th, after he was hampered by a technical problem with his BMW 320si. But there is still light at the end of the tunnel for Collard, as he was only one second off the pace of pole-sitter Jason Plato.

Still Collard will have to show his battling skills to fight his way into the points. That he is able to do that he has shown before this season, when he produced a stunning run from 20th to fourth at Oulton Park.

Team Principal David Bartrum commented to Collard’s problems: “Rob’s car had a problem which stopped him finding his pace. We will need to take a very close look at Rob’s car and try to find out what the problem is.”

Collard himself was dissapointed as well. “That was a really difficult qualifying session for me, the worst I’ve had all season.

“I just didn’t feel I had any balance in the car. No matter how I drove it I just couldn’t extract any more pace. We definitely have a problem with the car so we’re going to have to work really hard tonight to try and get it into decent shape for the races tomorrow.

“If we can do that then I’ll have a chance of taking the fight to the cars in front of me.”
