Plato tops first practice at Snetterton
Just as many had predicted beforehand, Jason Plato set the fastest time in the opening session at Snetterton. The championship leader, Colin Turkington, could only manage 6th fastest overall after 21 laps of the Norfolk circuit.
James Thompson followed Plato closely on the timing screens, and ended 0.154 seconds behind. Behind Thompson were VX Racing trio Matt Neal, Fabrizio Giovanardi and Andrew Jordan.
Turkington’s best offering was almost half a second off that of Plato, and the Team RAC driver will be looking to get back on the pace in this afternoon’s second practice session.
Harry Vaulkhard enjoyed a positive practice with his new bamboo engineering team. He set the 7th fastest time, ahead of driver such as Rob Collard, Paul O’Neill and 2008 series runner up Mat Jackson
The session was incident-free, with the only significant occurrence being Adam Jones not leaving the garage in his Cartridge World carbon Zero Racing SEAT Leon.
