Turkington responds in the second practice

Colin Turkington set the fastest lap in the second of the days free practice sessions at Snetterton, as the top six drivers from this morning all featured again. Turkington set the best time on lap 18 of his 20 timed runs. Matt Neal ended second, 0.068 seconds behind the championship leader.

“We’ve now got the car working better”, said Turkington to BTCC.net, as he explained that the team had made some changes to the car between the sessions to eradicate the oversteer they experienced this morning.

Fabrizio Giovanardi claimed 3rd, followed by James Thompson, Andrew Jordan and Jason Plato. The four drivers were split by less than one-hundredth of a second.

Gordon Shedden’s return to the BTCC has been somewhat difficult, as he ended the running in 16th place, almost 1.3 seconds off the fastest time of the day.

Jonathan Adam made a significant improvement on the earlier session, as he finished 7th overall.

RML driver James Nash broke into the top ten, with the ninth fastest time in his RML prepared Chevrolet Lacetti.

John George ran into problems, as his Honda Integra suffered clutch problems. Martin Johnson also hit problems, his Vauxhall Astra dropped a cylinder early into the session.
