Qualifying Joy for Adam at Snetterton

Jonathan Adam will start from fifth place on the grid for the first of today’s BTCC races at Snetterton. The Airwaves BMW driver will start alongside reigning champion, Fabrizio Giovanardi, and he will be hoping to be pushing for a good result.

Adam is the second BMW on the grid, behind only that of Colin Turkington, and is ahead of his more experienced team mate, Rob Collard.

With some rain falling during the qualifying session, Adam had just set a quick lap, and was hoping that the rain would be there to stay, “I got a really good flying lap in early and when it started to rain a little bit I thought that I had timed it perfectly”, said the Kirkcaldy driver. However, his hopes were dashed as the rain ceased, and the other drivers began to set faster times.

Everyone knows that the BMW is good off the line, so he will be hoping to make some places up at the start, and get in amongst the championship protagonists at the front, “I’m really looking forward to battling with the guys ahead of me as they are all quality drivers. It should be exciting stuff”.

Adam is still hoping to find a little extra pace before the opening race, “The car felt pretty good so all we need to do is a little fine tuning to the setup for tomorrow”.

Airwaves BMW Team Principal, Dave Bartrum, was full of praise for Adam’s qualifying performance, “Jonny did well to qualify sixth in such a competitive field”.
