Herbert indicates long time commitment

Johnny Herbert has indicated that he could remain in the British Touring Car Championship for a good while.
“I’m happy with what I’ve done so far, but I don’t want to be just Johnny Herbert, touring cars and eighth place or whatever,” said Herbert to crash.net.

“I want to be at the sharp end, and that’s what I’m going to be aiming at.”

Though the previous Formula One front runner has got other projects that could steal time from an eventual BTCC continuation.

“I’ve got a few other things going on [for next year] too. I’ve got a Formula 1 project which is with the Litespeed Air Asia team, and there is a possibility where we could come out of it with the team in Formula 1 because of the BMW situation,” said Herbert.

Next up for Herbert and the rest of the BTCC field is the penultimate round of the year at Rockingham in two weeks.

“I think Rockingham should suit the Civic much better, so from that point-of-view hopefully we’ll be more competitive, and with all those ingredients now we’ve got an idea of what I need to maybe do to help me feel better with the car,” said Herbert.
