Giovanardi: “Herbert ruined it all”

Vauxhall driver Fabrizio Giovanardi was upset over Johnny Herbert’s driving style in the third race of the weekend after the both made contact.
“I was clawing back the points in the first two races, and in the third it was looking good, but then Herbert ruined it all,” said Giovanardi.

The both fought for fourth place in the race, a battle Giovanardi does not think Herbert should have got involved in.

“He’s a guest driver, he’s not involved in the championship, so I don’t know why he had to smash into me, many times,” said Giovanardi.

After the incident, Giovanardi dropped back and finished 11th, allowing Giovanardi’s main championship rival Colin Turkington to sneak past and finish fourth.

“After that, my car was completely destroyed. It is frustrating when it happens like that, but when you lose out like that, to unprofessional driving, it makes it all the more difficult,” said Giovanardi.

Herbert was able to continue and finished seventh, his best ever result in the British Touring Car Championship.
